Let’s Get Started!
When you trust Dorchester Awning with the task of bringing your awning ideas to life, we start by sitting down with you to go over all the design options available to us that lets us create your perfect residential awning. We’ll discuss your requirements and determine your budget, and we’ll show you examples of color combinations and materials. We’ll visit your home to get a sense of its architecture and surrounding geography. Then, we’ll render a computer model that lets you see how certain awning styles will look like on your home — making your final decision that much easier. All these steps allow us to design and create awnings that are uniquely yours, ones that are perfectly suited to your home.
So Many Great Styles to Choose From
When the design process of your residential awnings begins, you’ll learn that there are seven basic styles to choose from, and depending on where the awnings are meant to be installed — either above doors or above windows — some styles might be better suited than others. Domed and fixed-frame awnings are great choices for doors. Both styles can be made with optional valances, which themselves can be designed to either hang loosely, or sit stiffly across metal framework. Typically, residential awnings employ a loose scalloped valance as an added feature of interest. But you can certainly decide on no valance at all, because the choice is yours and yours alone to make.
If you’re looking to add exterior style to your home’s windows, quarter round convex awnings are a very good choice. They’re classically styled, can also be designed with or without a valance, and are simply a wonderful way of adding visual interest to the façade of any residence.
The bottom line is, we think residential awnings are a smart and economical way to enhance a home. They can be made in an array of beautiful patterns, colors, and fabric selections, and can even be energy efficient. Industry studies have shown that awnings can reduce the inside temperature of a home by as much as 15 degrees, depending on certain factors.
And since almost every awning Dorchester Awning creates and installs is designed to meet the unique requirements of a particular space, they are truly an expression of the homeowner and his or her needs and desires.
