Spring is Here! Now’s the Time to Get Your Awnings Ready to Use in the Warmer Months

May 15, 2020

It’s pretty safe to say that most of us welcome the spring season. We look forward to longer days, warmer weather, and the opportunity to be outside enjoying those milder temperatures with friends and family. Are your awnings ready to do their job? Custom awnings in Boston are subjected to the unique demands of the seasons in New England and taking the time to prepare them for that can extend their good looks and usefulness. Here, we’ll discuss a few things you can do to get your awnings ready for the warmer months ahead.

They Might Need a Good Cleaning

If you retracted or stored your awnings away for the winter, there’s a good chance they’ll need to be cleaned to get them ready for spring and summer. For a light cleaning, you can use a broom or dry mop to gently sweep away dust and dirt. Any debris that may have become embedded can be vacuumed away as well. Many owners of custom awnings in Boston also use a power washer set at its lowest level to get rid of stubborn stains; for older awnings with fabric that may be more fragile, you can gently hand wash them using a mild soap and water mix and a medium to stiff brush, allowing them plenty of time to dry.

Let Us Do the Work for You

At Dorchester Awning, our suite of services is extensive, and includes not just designing and installing some of the most beautiful custom awnings in Boston and the surrounding areas, but also storing and reinstalling them once the winter months have passed. Our professional team will come out to your property and properly rehang your awnings carefully and expertly, making sure to check for any cleaning or repairs that may be needed. We’ve worked with thousands of property owners over the course of our 100+ years in business, and for many of them, we’ve taken the stress out of cleaning, prepping, and storing their awnings, year after year. When you trust us to take good care of your awnings, you’re protecting your investment and prolonging its value. We mean it when we say, we’ve got you covered, and it’s our commitment to the satisfaction of our customers and to the life of their awnings that has made us a leader in our industry.

Don’t Let Weather Do Damage to Custom Awnings in Boston

Spring in New England is known for its rapidly changing weather patterns, with lots of rain and high winds. Don’t let that wreak havoc on your awnings! Pay attention to forecasts and make sure to either retract your awnings in time to beat the bad weather, or remove them altogether. And remember, too, that springtime is the perfect time to start planning for the installation of new awnings, should you be thinking about them for your home or business.

We can help you get your property ready for the warmer months ahead! Get in touch today to schedule an appointment.
