Backyard Paradise Underneath an Awning

January 1, 2019

As summer winds down into fall, it is the perfect time for backyard pool parties and barbeques. An awning can help take the guesswork out of planning for these fun times by protecting guests from the elements. Awnings offer a space in the shade and help to prevent food and beverages from melting or warming up.

Retractable Awnings

Retractable awnings allow flexibility and function, while adding appeal to a home. With the touch of a button or the turn of a crank, an awning slides into place, protecting guests from sun and rain. In some cases, the shade below an awning can be up to twenty degrees cooler than open areas. When the awning is no longer desired or needs to be put away for winter, the same button or crank can stow the retractable awning away until it is needed. Customizing a retractable awning in colors and designs that add beauty to the home can add a desirable touch that will make the backyard into a paradise for years to come.

Stationary Awnings

Opting for a stationary, or fixed, awning allows a wide selection of highly sturdy awnings that can beauty the home deck, patio, or outdoor area. These are wonderful for spring, summer, and fall, and can extend the amount of time spent outdoors with the family. When the winter weather starts to come into play, Dorchester Awnings is happy to offer winter storage, cleaning, and repair. This service can be set up in advance for both removal and installation, so that planning is easy. After removing the awning, the awning will be cleaned and checked for repair needs. Necessary repairs can be made in the winter time to ensure a continuously well maintained awning.

Curtains, Side Panels, and Solar Shades

For yards that have outdoor structures, curtains, side panels, and solar shades may help to make an oasis. Side panels and curtains can be installed to block out insects, for a more convenient and appealing place to host dinner parties and barbeques. Solar shades can be added to mitigate the effects of the sun and make the structure more like a lovely outdoor room.

Nearly any sound structure can be enhanced to create a wonderful respite in the comfort of the backyard. Side panels, curtains, and solar shades come in a variety of options to fit different needs. The side panels can be stationary or can roll away for comfort during the warmer parts of the day. Solar shades are also available in fixed or retractable styles. Add an awning to your home, patio, or outdoor area to create a paradise in your backyard!
