What Does Winter Mean to the Awning Industry

Digital Strategies Support - Tuesday, December 10, 2019

The days are shorter, the air is cold, and Santa may have come and gone, but that doesn’t mean the work at Dorchester Awning is done — far from it! Wintertime means winter awnings, and from creating and installing all-weather retractable structures, to removing and storing awnings and canopies for the season, awning installation in Massachusetts doesn’t slow down for us just because it’s cold outside. We stay busy year-round because our customers know they can trust us to design, create, and install their winter awnings expertly and professionally, guaranteed.

All-Weather Awnings

Awnings are a beautiful addition to any residential or commercial property, no matter what the season, but it’s especially important that winter awnings do more than look pretty — they’ve got to do their jobs and hold up under the weight of heavy snowfall, keeping your porch or doorway sheltered from the elements. Our all-weather awnings do just that! These fabric-roof structures ride on a highly sturdy post and rail framework, providing the extra support needed to allow the retractable system to be resilient in the face of harsh weather conditions, including strong winds, heavy snow, and pouring rain. These tough awnings are customizable and can be tailor-made to meet your unique requirements and aesthetic. All-weather winter awnings ensure that even during the heaviest snowstorms, they’ll do what they’re meant to do — protect you and the property underneath them from the hassles and dangers of snow and ice.

Winter Awnings Care and Maintenance

Our stylish and durable awnings are meant to last for decades — and they will, with proper care and maintenance. Throughout the spring and summer months, your awnings may accumulate dirt and debris, which is why it’s important that before you retract or store your awnings away for the season, you check them for damage and give them a quick cleaning if they need it. A soft-bristled brush can be used to sweep away lose dirt. Stroke downward from the top of your awning to its lower edge. If some dirt adheres to it, you can gently spray water on your awning using a hose to try to rinse the dirt away. For tougher stains, fabric awnings can be safely cleaned using a small amount of mild soap, like Dawn, dissolved in warm water. Remember, though, that before you put your awnings away for the season, you should allow them to dry completely so that they don’t become susceptible to mold. Also remember that our experts can clean, remove, and store your awnings during the colder months and come back the following spring to replace them for your enjoyment all over again.

No matter what the season, Dorchester Awning can design, create, and install awnings and canopies that will add charm, value, and interest to your home or business. We’ve been satisfying our customers for over 100 years, one job at a time. Let us do the same for you!
